Project Outputs

Toolkit to higher education (HE) training for educators

This project output is a toolkit designed to enhance the digital skills and education readiness of refugees and immigrants in higher education. It provides educators with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to better support and advocate for the education of refugees and asylum seekers.

Digital Database and Online Forum

This output is a web-based accelerator program that offers an interactive education platform for refugees and immigrants. It includes a learning toolkit in digital format and a database that represents a variety of study alternatives, special programs, incentives, and national requirements for getting higher education. It also offers an online forum where participants can exchange information and experiences.

The DigIT project aims to improve refugee access to higher education by addressing the various barriers that they face. Educators need to be trained to handle the diverse classroom settings and cultural, ethnic, and linguistic differences. The project will focus on tackling the comprehensiveness of refugee integration into society through HE participation by enhancing the digital skills and competencies of HEI educators. This will be done through innovative digital learning interventions and the creation of a digital database and online forum for communication and data compilation.

The project aims to build digital education readiness among adult refugees/immigrants and develop digital pedagogical competencies of higher educators.

The specific aims include developing educational and mentorship resources to improve knowledge and competencies of higher education professionals in working with adult refugees and creating an open educational resource and free educational platform for adult refugees/immigrants.

The project will implement a customised approach to academia and organisational structure, with high-quality staff and a good understanding of refugee contexts.

The pedagogical approach will have clear resources, learning outcomes, and appropriate academic support mechanisms.

Accessibility and inclusivity throughout all steps of the education process and effective integration of technology will be taken into consideration.

The project aims to have the following impacts:

A report analyzing the best practices in digital learning for HEI educators across Europe will be drafted.

A learning toolkit for higher education training for educators will be developed.

A digital database and online forum will be created.

Cross-cultural cooperation among project partners will be advanced.

The capacities of project partners on social inclusion, project management, and distant learning education will be increased.

The management competences and internationalization strategies of the project partners will be improved. Two Intellectual Outputs (IOs) will be developed during the project duration:

IO-1: A toolkit to higher education (HE) training for educators that will enable participants to better support refugees and asylum seekers in accessing and progressing in higher education.

IO-2: A web-based accelerator program that includes the learning toolkit in digital format and a database with information on study alternatives, special programs/opportunities/incentives, entering HE and other degree programs, and national requirements for getting HE.
